A cataract is the clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye, which prevents light entering the eye from being properly focused on the retina. The lens of our eye clouds naturally as we age, resulting in a gradual reduction of vision. Cataracts affect over 73 percent of senior citizens age 65 and older in the United States today.
