Dwight R. Kulwin, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dwight R. Kulwin, M.D., F.A.C.S. is an Ophthalmic plastic surgeon at Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI). He is a graduate of University of Illinois and received his medical training at University of Chicago College of Medicine. After completing his Residency training in Ophthalmology, he completed a Fellowship in the specialty of Ophthalmic Plastic surgery at University of Texas. He is currently an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and head of the Section of Ophthalmic, Plastic, Reconstructive and Orbital Surgery. He is a member of American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and was given the honor of delivering the prestigious Wendell L. Hughes Lecture at the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1996.
Dr. Kulwin is Board Certified in Ophthalmology, a Diplomate of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Kulwin has written over 100 articles and book chapters on eye plastic surgery and has lectured widely throughout the United States and abroad. He is nationally recognized in Best Doctors in America and has been listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
Jeffrey A. Nerad, M.D.
Dr. Nerad specializes in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This subspecialty of ophthalmology combines eye surgery and plastic surgery, correcting cosmetic and reconstructive problems of the eyelids and the tissue of the face surrounding the eyes. Dr. Nerad performs a wide variety of operations for drooping eyelids, watery eyes, and eye socket problems, including thyroid eye disease. Dr. Nerad offers medical, laser and surgical correction of cosmetic facial problems, especially upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, as well as treatment of facial wrinkling and sagging. He is considered an international expert in treating orbital diseases. Consultations for adults and children are available with or without referral from other physicians and surgeons.
Dr. Nerad joined the Cincinnati Eye Institute in 2009. Prior to his arrival, he held the position of Professor of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa for over 20 years. At the University, he was the Director of the Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery Service where he performed over 1000 surgeries each year. In 2008, he was awarded the Fuerste Professorship of Ophthalmology for his patient care, teaching and research. During his career as a surgeon and educator, Dr. Nerad has trained hundreds of resident and fellow physicians who now practice throughout the world.
Dr. Nerad attended the University of California for undergraduate training. He completed medical school and residency training at Saint Louis University. Dr. Nerad did fellowship training in Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Nerad is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American and European Societies of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons, and the prestigious Orbital Society. He is currently President-elect of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Nerad is active on many educational committees in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and now serves as an AAO Secretary of Education. Dr Nerad has been awarded the Honor and Senior Honor Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and been named among the Best Doctors in America for 20 years. Dr. Nerad has published over 100 scientific papers on a wide variety of topics related to eyelid and orbital surgery. He serves on the editorial boards of several professional journals. He has authored and coauthored several textbooks which are among the most widely referred to texts in his area. His latest textbook, Techniques in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery, was released in 2010. He is a sought after lecturer nationally and has lectured in more than 30 countries across the globe. He is married and the proud father of two daughters.
Ginger Henson Rattan, M.D.
Dr. Rattan specializes in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This subspecialty of Ophthalmology focuses on both cosmetic and functional problems of the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal system and orbit. She performs a variety of surgeries to correct drooping upper eyelids, bags under the eyes, excessive tearing and eye socket problems. In addition, Dr. Rattan is available for consultation at the new Face and Eye Aesthetic Center for patients interested in cosmetic facial rejuvenation. She offers a variety of non-surgical treatments including Botox, facial fillers, and CO2 laser resurfacing of the skin. Dr. Rattan is a graduate of Miami University and received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology and fellowship in pediatric eye diseases at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. Dr. Rattan then returned to Cincinnati to complete her fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. She joined CEI in 2011. Dr. Rattan is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She lives in Cincinnati with her husband, Mantosh Rattan, M.D., a radiologist at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
