Stewart Krug, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a vitreoretinal surgeon with special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment. Dr. Krug has practiced in Cincinnati since 1977.
Dr. Krug's undergraduate degree is from Pennsylvania State University where he earned membership to the Alpha Epsilon Phi premedical honor society. He is a graduate of the New York Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Krug's Internship was at University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. His Residency and final year as Chief Resident were served at Mt. Sinai Hospital of Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Krug's fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery was also in Cleveland at St. Luke's Medical Center.
Dr. Krug is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, FACS. He is a member of the prestigious Macula Society, an international organization of leading retinal specialists devoted to the study and cure of macular disorders.
Dr. Krug is currently Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he is actively engaged in the education of Resident Ophthalmologists, post graduate education, tertiary retinal patient care, and clinical research. He has lectured on the local, state and national levels concerning various aspects of the diagnosis and advanced management of vitreoretinal diseases.
Dr. Krug is a past officer of the Cincinnati Eye Society, and co-director of the section of Ophthalmology of the Bethesda Hospitals. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, Cincinnati Academy of Medicine and the Ohio State Ophthalmological Association.
Dr. Krug enjoys participating in Cincinnati community cultural, charitable, and religious organizations. He also enjoys spending leisure time gardening and home computing.
