 Thomas G. Burch, M.D. joined Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI) in 1998 after 12 years of solo Ophthalmology practice in western Cincinnati. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Vanderbilt University in 1975 and obtained his Medical Degree from University of Tennessee in 1981. He was an Intern at Methodist Hospital in Memphis and then moved to University of South Carolina where he was a research Fellow working with intraocular lens implants. He completed an additional three years of Residency in Ophthalmology at University of South Carolina where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Burch is the author of several research papers and has received various honors including membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, the University of Tennessee Alumni Research Award, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association Research Award. Dr. Burch has staff privileges at Mercy Franciscan Hospitals (Mt. Airy and Western Hills), Bethesda, Christ, Good Samaritan, and University Hospitals. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the Cincinnati Society of Ophthalmology, the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio Ophthalmologic Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Burch performs outpatient cataract implant surgery and laser procedures including argon laser surgery for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy and YAG laser surgery for secondary cataracts and angle closure glaucoma. |
