Get to Know Dr. Mecoli

Dr. Mecoli is a medical and surgical ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery. He joined CEI in 2014 and provides sight restoring care to hundreds of patients each year. He enjoys helping his patients understand their eye conditions and treatment options.

Dr. Mecoli grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated magna cum laude from Denison University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. After an internship year in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital, he returned to UC where he completed a Residency in Ophthalmology, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.

Dr. Mecoli is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. As an Assistant Professor at UC he teaches cataract surgery to doctors in training. Beyond ophthalmology he plays in a local bluegrass band and enjoys hiking with his wife and three children.
