Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI) welcomes three students from the Mercy College of Ohio Ophthalmic Technology Program who have completed their fall semester courses and have started their clinical hours at CEI. Students must complete 488 clinical hours to complete the two-semester certificate program. The students will be working in various clinics throughout CEI-Blue Ash from January through April 2018. Once completed, they will be eligible to sit for the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) exam and eligible for hire.

Simultaneously this week two more new Clinic Technicians were hired to undergo the 6-week Tech Training Program at CEI. Ashley Wilson, COT and Stephani Lykins, COT are the Technician Trainer Coordinators who spend this time delivering ophthalmic training and skills to form well-prepared Comprehensive Technicians. Once completing their 6-weeks of intense training, they will float into various areas with the dual-role of filling tech coverage needs and extending their training opportunities.

CEI’s Education Department is thrilled to be able to offer multi-faceted training opportunities to five of these new technicians.
