Get to Know Dr. Hanson

Laura L. Hanson, MD is a comprehensive and neuro-ophthalmologist at Cincinnati Eye Institute and a board-certified member of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She was born and raised in Columbus, OH. She graduated magna cum laude with Honors from Miami University and attended the University of Toledo College of Medicine, where she graduated first in her class. Dr. Hanson finished her ophthalmology residency training as Chief Resident at the University of Cincinnati and then completed a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the prestigious John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Hanson practices comprehensive ophthalmology including cataract, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration. She also has a special interest in neuro-ophthalmology, evaluating patients with diseases that affect the optic nerve, disorders of eye movements and neurologic diseases that affect vision.

Outside of work, Dr. Hanson’s interests include cooking and hiking with her husband, Jon, and her lab Belle.
