Clinical Research Steering Committee (CRSC)
A subset of CEI investigators from various sub-specialties along with several CEI administrators help guide and oversee the research studies ongoing at CEI. This same group also carefully analyzes all prospective studies prior to initiation to be sure that they fit the needs of our patients.

Mark T. Bergmann, M.D.
Dr. Bergmann completed his medical degree at Wright State University. He completed his internship at Jewish Hospital (Cincinnati) and his ophthalmologic residency at The Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. He was a Fellow at the Cullen Eye Institute (Houston, TX) and Kresge Eye Institute (Detroit, MI) gaining special training in Cataract surgery and Corneal Eye Disease. Dr. Bergmann has over 20 years of practice experience. Haroon A. Chaudhry, M.D.
Dr. Chaudhry received his medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson School at the University of New Jersey. He was Chief Resident at the Washington Hospital Center during his ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University. He completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Dr. Chaudhry has served as a Principal Investigator for various clinical studies related to macular degeneration.
Karen L. Klugo, M.D.
Dr. Klugo received her medical degree and her residency at The Ohio State University. She was Chief Resident during her residency training. Dr. Klugo has been and continues to be an Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati. Dr. Klugo has over 10 years of experience as a Principal Investigator with a special interest in studies for glaucoma, dry eye, and blepharitis. She has also published in several medical journals.
Leon A. Reid III, M.D.
Dr. Reid completed his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. His ophthalmology residency was at Howard University in Washington DC. In addition to having almost 25 years of practice experience, Dr. Reid has been active in ophthalmology education and the community. He was clinical instructor of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. He continues to serve as Volunteer Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology (University of Cincinnati), is on the Board of Trustees for the Cincinnati Society of Ophthalmology, and is on the Medical Advisory Board for the Cincinnati Eye Bank. He has been named a Fellow by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been both Principal Investigator and Sub Investigator for various clinical studies.
