Getting to Know Dr. Azar

Dr. Marlene Azar received her Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from University of Michigan, graduating with high distinction. She then went on to earn her medical degree with distinction from Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following an internship in Detroit, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Throughout her career, Dr. Azar has given her time to various volunteer and mentorship organizations, as well as participated in several research projects.

Dr. Azar practices medical and surgical comprehensive ophthalmology, diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Azar enjoys exercising, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
