Meet Dr. Martin

Matthew Martin, MD is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon. At Cincinnati Eye Institute, Dr. Martin serves patients at the Middletown and Fairfield locations.

A native of Michigan, Dr. Martin completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Oakland University and earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute, also in Detroit, where during his senior year he was awarded the Marius Juzych Golden Apple Award for best resident teacher. Dr. Martin went on to complete a fellowship in the surgical and medical management of glaucoma at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Martin’s clinical interests include cataract surgery, and the medical and surgical management of glaucoma including traditional filtering surgery (trabeculectomy and tube shunts) and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries.

Throughout his training, Dr. Martin has remained engaged with mentorship, community outreach, and patient education. Dr. Martin is committed to a patient-centered approach to management, so patients can continue to make informed decisions about their care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Martin enjoys sports, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
