Dr. Robert J. Goulet III grew up in Carmel, Indiana, a suburb north of Indianapolis. He graduated cum laude from Boston College in 2001. For the year after college graduation, Dr. Goulet committed to working as a classroom assistant in the Head Start Program for underprivileged preschool aged children. He continued his educational pursuits, after that year, at Indiana University School of Medicine and received his medical degree in 2006. He remained in Indianapolis to complete his intern/transitional year at Methodist Hospital and his ophthalmology residency with the IU department of ophthalmology. During residency, Dr. Goulet served as chief resident for the transitional year program and academic chief resident for the ophthalmology program. In 2009, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society which recognizes those who have “demonstrated excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service.” Dr. Goulet furthered his education in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma with the Wills Eye Institute Glaucoma Service fellowship in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Goulet is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has professional affiliations with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. Before joining Cincinnati Eye Institute, he served as the glaucoma specialist in a small private practice in northern Indiana. His primary interests are in the management of glaucoma with medicines, lasers, and surgery (tube shunts, filtering procedures, and combined glaucoma/cataract surgeries). Dr. Goulet also performs cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation in patients with and without glaucoma.
Dr. Goulet enjoys any outdoor activity and traveling with his wife, Andrea. They also spend plenty of time with their dog Yoda. He is a recreational road cyclist and can cook well enough to put an edible meal on the table.
