Get to Know Dr. Schockman

Samantha L. Schockman, M.D. was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a board-certified medical and surgical comprehensive ophthalmologist with a special interest in complex cataract and anterior segment surgery. Dr. Schockman graduated cum laude from Denison University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and continued on to receive her Medical Degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her Ophthalmology residency training at University of Cincinnati, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in Complex Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery at Cincinnati Eye Institute.

Dr. Schockman has published numerous scientific articles in leading Ophthalmology journals and has co-authored several book chapters in textbooks at the forefront of their fields. She co-authored book chapters on iris reconstruction surgery and advanced techniques for complex cataract surgery in combination with retinal surgery. She continues to be actively involved in research and participates in ongoing clinical studies at Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Schockman volunteers her time as a faculty member at University of Cincinnati, helping to educate medical students and residents in the field of Ophthalmology. In addition, she is a Skills Lab Faculty member at multiple national meetings, helping to educate others in iris repair, sutured intraocular lenses, and insertion of iris prostheses.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Schockman enjoys watching sporting events, trying new restaurants with friends, traveling and spending time with her husband and two young children.
