Get to Know Dr. Provencher

Lorraine (Lori) M. Provencher, M.D. is a member of the glaucoma service at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. She grew up in rural southern Indiana and is the daughter of two adventurous archeologists. Her humble yet unique upbringing instilled in her an appreciation for hard work and an intense curiosity for science and people, making the medical field a perfect fit.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Provencher has interests in teaching, mentorship, and online education. Dr. Provencher serves as the Senior Social Media Editor for Ophthalmology, and while at the University of Iowa, she was appointed Chief Medical Editor for EyeRounds.org, an online compendium of free ophthalmic teaching cases, tutorials, and videos. She is actively involved with Women in Ophthalmology and is a founding member of Women in Glaucoma, a subset of the American Glaucoma Society. She also directs and hosts the CVP Doc-2-Doc podcast, an education series for doctors across the CVP network. Dr. Provencher volunteers for Orbis International and Cybersight.org. She has presented research on the regional and national level and has authored many peer-reviewed journal articles.

Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Provencher enjoys spending time with her family, doing Pilates, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
